SENIOR MECHANICAL ENGINEER

Job Purpose:

To provide technical and troubleshooting support to offshore rigs, ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation and maintenance of offshore mechanical equipment and systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide daily technical support and guidance to offshore rigs under the role's remit on mechanical equipment, maintenance, and operational matters.
• Assist rigs in resolving technical downtime, complex equipment failures, and operational issues by providing troubleshooting and appropriate engineering solutions.
• Liaise with OEMs, vendors, contractors, offshore personnel, clients, and other relevant stakeholders to resolve technical and maintenance-related issues.
• Travel offshore, including worldwide travel at short notice when required, to provide technical support, conduct troubleshooting, problem-solving, inspections, and rig familiarisation visits.
• Support the planning, coordination, and execution of preventive and corrective maintenance activities, including major maintenance, shutdowns, repairs, equipment upgrades, and onshore equipment repairs.
• Review equipment performance, maintenance history, availability, and reliability, and recommend improvement initiatives to minimise equipment downtime and enhance operational efficiency.
• Support the development, review, and implementation of preventive maintenance programmes, maintenance strategies, technical procedures, work instructions, and troubleshooting guides.
• Provide technical support for offshore minor projects, rig modifications, equipment replacements, upgrades, and other improvement projects, including supporting Project Engineers when required.
• Assist rigs in ensuring compliance with the Technical Management of Change (MOC) procedure and other applicable technical directives, systems, and procedures.
• Support technical audits and reviews relating to maintenance activities, equipment, and technical procedures.
• Assist with the investigation and root cause analysis of significant equipment failures and recommend appropriate corrective and preventive actions.
• Monitor the reliability and availability of critical mechanical equipment and recommend actions to improve equipment performance and minimise downtime.
• Maintain a good working knowledge of mechanical systems, equipment, and controls across the Company's rig fleet.
• Lead safety by example and actively promote safety awareness and safe working practices among all personnel.

Qualification and Relevant experiences:

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent qualification
• Minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience for the position
• Familiar with computerised control systems
• Experience on /with Offshore Drill Rigs and Rig equipment and Troubleshooting
• Sound knowledge of rotating equipment
• Sound knowledge of hydraulic controls and systems
• Trained in Mechanical trade or engineering degree
• Good level of verbal and written communication in English.
• Good computer skills
