JOB PURPOSE
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Engineering Design and Analysis:
Lead the design and engineering of instrumentation and control systems for oil and gas projects, including process control systems, safety instrumented systems (SIS), and fire and gas detection systems.
Conduct technical analysis, simulations, and calculations to optimize system performance, reliability, and efficiency.
Develop engineering deliverables, including specifications, datasheets, drawings, and technical reports, in accordance with project requirements and industry standards.
Technical Review and Assurance:
Review and evaluate vendor proposals, equipment specifications, and design documents for instrumentation and control systems, ensuring compliance with project specifications, codes, and standards.
Provide technical guidance and expertise to project teams, resolving design issues, deviations, and conflicts as needed.
Conduct design reviews, HAZOP studies, and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and ensure the safety and integrity of I&C systems.
Procurement and Material Selection:
Collaborate with procurement and supply chain teams to select instrumentation and control equipment, materials, and suppliers.
Prepare technical specifications, requisitions, and bid evaluations for I&C packages, ensuring alignment with project requirements and budget constraints.
Review vendor documentation, factory acceptance tests (FATs), and inspection reports to verify compliance with project specifications and quality standards.
Construction and Commissioning Support:
Provide technical support and oversight during the construction, installation, and commissioning of instrumentation and control systems, ensuring adherence to design specifications and safety procedures.
Participate in site inspections, FATs, SATs, and loop checks to verify proper installation, calibration, and functionality of I&C equipment.
Troubleshoot technical issues, coordinate system modifications, and implement corrective actions to resolve discrepancies and ensure successful system integration.
Documentation and Training:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation for instrumentation and control systems, including engineering drawings, manuals, as-built records, and operating procedures.
Develop training materials and conduct technical training sessions for operations and maintenance personnel on I&C equipment, systems, and procedures.
Support knowledge transfer and mentoring of junior engineers, fostering professional development and growth within the team.
Continuous Improvement and Innovation:
Stay abreast of emerging technologies, trends, and best practices in instrumentation and control engineering, and propose innovative solutions to enhance system performance, reliability, and efficiency.
Participate in lessons learned sessions, post-project reviews, and technical forums to capture insights, identify areas for improvement, and drive continuous improvement initiatives within the organization.
QUALIFICATIONS / CERTIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, or related field; Master's degree preferred.
