JOB PURPOSE

The Senior SAP Payroll Consultant is responsible for the end-to-end design, configuration, governance, and continuous improvement of the SAP Payroll landscape, with specific accountability for crew (maritime) payroll and integration with SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central. The role acts as the technical and functional authority for all  payroll-related processes, ensuring statutory compliance, accurate and timely payroll runs, and seamless data flow across the integrated HCM ecosystem.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Solution Design & Delivery

  1. Lead end-to-end design of SAP Payroll solutions, including:
    • Gross-to-net processing
    • Schemas and PCRs
    • Wage types
    • Retroactive accounting
    • Off-cycle payroll
    • FI/CO postings
  2. Own and manage all SAP payroll-related customisations, ensuring:
    • Proper documentation
    • Clear business justification
    • Alignment with the ERP architecture roadmap

SuccessFactors Integration

  1. Design and maintain SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central to SAP Payroll integrations using:
    • Standard packaged integrations (PTP replication, CompInfo, cost centre, org assignment)
    • Custom middleware (CPI / BTP)
  2. Resolve data replication and mapping issues, including:
    • Delta handling
    • Error monitoring
    • Reconciliation routines
  3. Partner with the SuccessFactors support team to:
    • Assess data model changes
    • Align business rules
    • Prevent payroll disruption

Operations, Governance & Compliance

  1. Govern monthly, off-cycle, and year-end payroll cycles to ensure:
    • SLA adherence
    • Accuracy
    • Audit readiness across all pay groups
  2. Maintain statutory and regulatory compliance, including:
    • Income tax
    • Social security
    • EPF / SOCSO / EIS
    • Maritime levies
    • Crew double-taxation treatment
  3. Establish and enforce:
    • Payroll design standards
    • Naming conventions
    • Transport governance
    • Change-control processes

Project Delivery & Stakeholder Management

  1. Act as workstream lead or subject matter expert for payroll initiatives
  2. Translate business requirements from HR, Finance, Crewing, and Operations into scalable payroll designs

Strategy & Innovation

  1. Contribute to the ERP / HCM roadmap, including:
    • Employee Central Payroll
    • H4S4 Private Cloud
    • Automation initiatives
  2. Identify and prototype innovations such as:
    • RPA for repetitive payroll tasks
    • AI-assisted payroll anomaly detection
    • Mobile self-service for crew
    • Payroll analytics and cost insights
  3. Mentor junior consultants and analysts to:
    • Build team capability
    • Reduce key-person dependency

QUALIFICATIONS / CERTIFICATIONS

  1. Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Accounting, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  2. Relevant SAP / SuccessFactors certifications are strongly preferred. 

RELEVANT EXPERIENCE

  1. Minimum 8 years of hands-on SAP HCM / Payroll experience, with at least 5 years in a senior or lead consultant capacity.
  2. At least 2 full-cycle SAP Payroll implementations as a key contributor or workstream lead.
  3. Demonstrable experience in crew / maritime payroll within shipping, offshore, or related industries.
  4. Proven track record of delivering and supporting SF Employee Central and SAP Payroll integrations in a production environment.
  5. Experience operating in a regulated, multi-entity, multi-country environment is preferred.
