Job Purpose

The Senior Material Analyst is responsible for overseeing inventory performance, material governance, data integrity, and inventory optimization across projects, warehouses, and operational locations. The role provides analytical leadership in inventory management, drives continuous improvement initiatives, ensures compliance with company procedures, and supports management decision-making through strategic inventory analysis and reporting.

The position acts as the focal point for inventory governance, material control, SAP inventory accuracy, stock optimization, and cross-functional coordination between Warehouse Operations, Procurement, Finance, Asset Management, and Project Teams.

 

Key Roles & Responsibility 

  • Oversee end-to-end inventory activities to ensure stock is accurately recorded, properly tracked, and managed in line with company policies, procedures, and internal control requirements.
  • Monitor key inventory indicators such as ageing stock, turnover, excess materials, and write-offs. Identify improvement areas and take actions to reduce slow-moving stock and overall inventory holding cost.
  • Ensure all inventory-related transactions in SAP (e.g. Goods Receipt, Goods Issue, Transfers, Adjustments) are processed correctly and timely. Maintain accurate master data and ensure reports reflect the true inventory position
  • Review inventory movement, usage patterns, and demand trends to support planning and forecasting activities. Provide analysis to help improve material availability and reduce unnecessary stockholding.
  • Lead reconciliation between SAP records and physical inventory. Investigate discrepancies, identify root causes, and ensure corrective actions are implemented. Support internal and external audit requirements.
  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise stock take exercises, cycle counts, and verification activities across warehouses, vessels, and project sites to ensure inventory accuracy and proper documentation.
  • Identify surplus, obsolete, and slow-moving materials. Work with relevant stakeholders to redeploy usable items and manage disposal processes to minimize waste and storage costs.
  • Prepare regular inventory reports, highlight key variances, and provide clear explanations and recommendations to support management decision-making.
  • Review existing inventory processes, identify gaps or inefficiencies, and propose practical improvements. Support system enhancements, automation, and better reporting tools to improve control and efficiency.
  • Work closely with Warehouse, Procurement, Finance, Asset Management, and Project teams on inventory matters. Provide guidance and support to team members to strengthen compliance, accuracy, and overall inventory management capability.

 

Qualifications / Certifications:

Diploma or Degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or related field

 

Relevant Experience:

  • Minimum 4 years of experience in Inventory Management, Warehouse Operations and Materials Management.
  • Experience in SAP MM inventory management environment or other equivalent ERP system.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and reporting tools (e.g. pivot tables, basic analysis)
  • Experience inventory audits, stock take activities, and reconciliation exercises.
  • Experience preparing management reports and conducting inventory performance analysis
