JOB PURPOSE
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Estimation Leadership: Lead and manage a team of estimators responsible for developing accurate cost estimates for oil and gas projects. Provide guidance, mentorship, and technical support to ensure consistent quality and reliability in estimation processes.
Estimation Coordination: Coordinate estimation efforts across multiple projects, allocating resources, prioritizing tasks, and ensuring adherence to project timelines and deadlines. Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to gather relevant data and information for cost estimation.
Cost Estimation: Oversee the development of detailed cost estimates for oil and gas projects, including exploration, drilling, production, refining, and distribution. Review and validate cost estimates to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project requirements.
Quantity Takeoff: Provide oversight and guidance on quantity takeoffs and material takeoffs from engineering drawings, specifications, and project documents. Review quantity calculations and validate quantities against project scope and specifications.
Vendor and Supplier Management: Manage relationships with vendors, suppliers, subcontractors, and service providers to obtain pricing, quotes, and cost inputs for project components. Negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions to achieve cost savings and maximize value.
Cost Analysis: Conduct detailed cost analysis, including cost drivers, variances, and trends, to identify opportunities for cost optimization, value engineering, and risk mitigation. Provide recommendations to enhance cost-efficiency and competitiveness while ensuring project profitability.
Risk Assessment: Lead risk assessment activities to identify potential risks and uncertainties that may impact project costs, schedule, and quality. Develop risk mitigation strategies and contingency plans to address identified risks and ensure project success.
Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of cost estimates, bid proposals, change orders, and other project-related documentation. Prepare regular reports, presentations, and dashboards to communicate estimation activities, progress, and performance metrics to senior management and project stakeholders.
Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on industry best practices, emerging technologies, and market trends related to cost estimation in the oil and gas sector. Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to the development of standardized estimation methodologies.
QUALIFICATIONS / CERTIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or a related field.
