JOB PURPOSE

The post is the lead for legal services and support for the Engineering & Construction Business Unit focusing on projects and commercial matters. The post holder is responsible to ensure timely and accurate deliverable of all legal services, consultations and support including management of resources and stakeholders for the Business Unit.
The undertaking of additional functions for the Group Legal Department will be as directed by the General Counsel, Projects and Commercial or the Chief General Counsel.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Project and Commercial Related Transactions (Revenue)
1.Review and ensure contract tenders are legally protected prior to submission.
2.Prepare exceptions and deviations to contract terms of any tenders and make recommendations to minimize legal and contractual risks.
3.Identify legal and contractual risks and make recommendations to mitigate risks.
4.Advise, review and draft contractual documents including non-disclosure, pre-bid agreements, consortium agreements relevant to the tender requirements.
5.Advise and support the contract management team for the Projects executed by the Business Unit including review, advise and draft amendments, supplementals, formal notices.
6.Advise on dispute and undertake pre-dispute management along with the relevant departments in the Business Unit.


Project and Commercial Related Transactions (Cost)
1.Advise, draft and review contract terms for transactions with vendors, suppliers, subcontractors including any flow-downs required from Revenue Contracts.
2.Advise, review and draft contractual documents including amendments, supplementals, formal notices.
3.Advise and support the contract management team for the Projects executed by the Business Unit including review and draft amendments, supplementals, formal notices.
4.Advise on dispute and undertake pre-dispute management along with the relevant departments in the Business Unit.

Corporate Transactions, Compliance and Governance
1.As a client manager, managing the Business Unit’s requests or initiatives along with the other functions within Group Legal.
2.To liaise with and advise Corporate, Corporate Secretarial, Compliance or Governance functions relating to the transaction or matter.
3.Review tasks completed or undertaken by the Corporate, Corporate Secretarial, Compliance or Governance functions.

QUALIFICATIONS / CERTIFICATIONS

  • Degree in Law
  • Certificate of Legal Practice or equivalent (Preferable)

RELEVANT EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 12 years of working experience.
  • Possess good negotiation and drafting skills.
  • Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Good command of written and spoken English.
  • Ability to perform and manage numerous assigned tasks while meeting rigorous performance standards and tight deadlines.
  • An analytical thinker who can quickly learn new things, develop useful expertise and produce significant contributions.
  • Ability to manage and train personnel.
