Job Purpose

To lead the organization’s internal investigation function by overseeing complex investigations, ensuring proper evidence management, coordinating with enforcement authorities, and strengthening governance and integrity practices across the organization. 

Key Responsibilities

1. Investigation Leadership & Oversight

  • Lead and oversee full-scale internal investigations arising from complaints received through whistleblowing channels, management referrals, audit findings, or other sources.

  • Determine investigation strategies, scope, and approach to ensure investigations are conducted objectively, independently, and in accordance with company policies and legal requirements.

  • Provide direction and guidance to investigating officers or assigned team members.

2. Investigation Reporting & Evidence Governance

  • Review and endorse comprehensive investigation reports, ensuring findings are clear, evidence-based, and defensible.

  • Oversee the proper collection, handling, preservation, and documentation of documentary and digital evidence, maintaining integrity and chain of custody.

  • Ensure investigation documentation is securely maintained and readily available for disciplinary or legal proceedings.

3. Witness & Consequence Management Coordination

  • Engage and liaise with employees, management, and key witnesses during investigations, ensuring fair and professional handling of all parties involved.

  • Work closely with HR and management to support consequence management processes, including disciplinary actions, based on investigation outcomes.

4. Liaison with Enforcement Agencies & Authorities

  • Act as the organization’s focal point in liaising with enforcement agencies and relevant authorities on investigation-related matters.

  • Coordinate responses to official enquiries, requests for information, and provide necessary documentation or assistance during external investigations.

5. Integrity Due Diligence Oversight

  • Oversee the conduct of MACC eSTK checks and other integrity due diligence processes for employees, vendors, and business associates.

  • Ensure due diligence activities are properly documented, risk-assessed, and handled with strict confidentiality.

6. Special Reviews & Ad-Hoc Assignments

  • Lead special reviews, fact-finding exercises, and ad-hoc assignments relating to fraud, misconduct, or integrity-related concerns as directed by management or the Board.

  • Provide independent assessments and recommendations to mitigate risks and strengthen controls.

7. Governance & Integrity Enhancement

  • Support and contribute to the development and implementation of governance and integrity enhancement initiatives.

  • Identify systemic issues arising from investigations and recommend control improvements, policy enhancements, or awareness programs to prevent recurrence.

8. Stakeholder Management & Advisory

  • Advise senior management on investigation outcomes, risk exposures, and appropriate remedial actions.

  • Build strong working relationships with HR, Legal, Risk, and business units to promote a culture of integrity and accountability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Law, Criminology, Forensic Accounting, Business, or related field (professional certifications in investigations, fraud examination, or compliance are an advantage).

  • Minimum 7–10 years of experience in investigations, enforcement, compliance, internal audit, or related areas, with experience handling complex cases.

  • Strong knowledge of investigation methodologies, evidence handling, interview techniques, and reporting standards.

  • Familiarity with MACC requirements, corporate misconduct handling, and regulatory engagement.

  • Proven ability to manage sensitive cases with high discretion and sound judgment.

  • Strong report writing, analytical, and stakeholder management skills.

  • Demonstrated leadership capability and ability to provide direction in high-risk or sensitive situations.
