JOB PURPOSE
To lead and drive the end-to-end portfolio divestment strategy and execution, including asset disposals, equity sell-downs, restructuring initiatives, and exit strategies, ensuring transactions are delivered efficiently, compliantly, and aligned with corporate objectives and long-term value creation.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Strategic Leadership & Portfolio Optimization

Develop and lead the overall divestment strategy aligned with corporate portfolio objectives and value maximisation goals

Identify, evaluate, and prioritise divestment opportunities through financial, commercial, and strategic assessments

Advise Management and Board on portfolio rationalisation strategies, risks, and value implications

Drive portfolio performance reviews and recommend restructuring, exit, or monetisation initiatives
Transaction Leadership & Execution

Lead end-to-end divestment transactions including structuring, valuation, negotiation, execution, and closing

Oversee preparation and presentation of Decision Gate (DG) papers, Divestment Decision Review Board (DDRB) submissions, management papers, and Board materials

Direct the development of Information Memoranda, Teasers, financial models, and transaction documentation

Lead negotiations with buyers, partners, and advisors to secure optimal commercial outcomes

Oversee due diligence processes, ensuring effective coordination across financial, legal, tax, technical, and regulatory workstreams
Governance, Risk & Compliance

Ensure all divestment activities comply with internal governance frameworks, policies, and regulatory requirements

Identify and mitigate transaction risks, including legal, financial, reputational, and operational exposures

Ensure proper documentation, audit trail, and post-transaction handover processes

Monitor post-divestment obligations and ensure smooth transition and closure
Stakeholder & Advisor Management

Act as key liaison with internal stakeholders including Finance, Legal, Strategy, Operations, and Risk

Manage and oversee external advisors including investment banks, legal counsel, tax advisors, and valuers
-
Engage and align cross-functional teams to ensure transaction readiness and timely delivery
Financial & Valuation Oversight

Provide oversight on valuation methodologies, financial modelling, and commercial assessments

Ensure robustness of financial assumptions and transaction analytics

Drive scenario analysis to support strategic decision-making
Team Leadership & Capability Development

Lead, coach, and develop the Portfolio Planning & Execution team

Review and provide guidance on analysis, models, reports, and transaction materials
-
Build internal transaction capability and institutional knowledge within the division
QUALIFICATIONS / CERTIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, Law, or related discipline from a recognised Higher Learning Institution
-
Professional certifications such as CFA, CPA, ACCA, CA, or equivalent are advantageous
-
Postgraduate qualification (MBA or equivalent) would be an added advantage
RELEVANT EXPERIENCE

10–15 years of relevant experience in corporate finance, M&A, investments, portfolio management, strategy, or transaction advisory

Proven track record in leading and closing complex divestment or corporate transactions
-
Strong understanding of valuation methodologies, financial structuring, and transaction lifecycle
-
Experience in presenting to senior management and Board-level stakeholders
-
Demonstrated leadership and team management experience
