JOB PURPOSE

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Design and Analysis:
 
Develop detailed mechanical and piping designs, including layout drawings, specifications, and calculations, using engineering software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar tools.
Perform stress analysis, hydraulic calculations, and thermal evaluations to ensure the structural integrity, performance, and compliance of piping systems with applicable codes and standards.
Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to integrate mechanical and piping designs into overall project plans and layouts.
Material Selection and Specification:
 
Select appropriate materials for piping components, valves, fittings, and supports based on project requirements, operating conditions, and environmental factors.
Prepare material specifications, datasheets, and requisitions for procurement of piping materials and equipment, ensuring compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
Review vendor proposals and technical documentation to verify conformance with specified requirements and quality standards.
Engineering Support and Coordination:
 
Provide technical support and guidance to project teams, contractors, and vendors throughout the design, construction, and commissioning phases of projects.
Coordinate with other engineering disciplines, including process, instrumentation, and civil/structural, to ensure seamless integration of mechanical and piping systems with overall project objectives.
Resolve technical issues, design conflicts, and field modifications related to mechanical and piping systems, implementing timely and cost-effective solutions.
Quality Assurance and Compliance:
 
Ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, regulations, and industry best practices in the design and installation of mechanical and piping systems.
Conduct quality reviews, inspections, and audits of mechanical and piping deliverables to verify accuracy, completeness, and adherence to project requirements.
Participate in HAZOP studies, risk assessments, and safety reviews to identify potential hazards and implement appropriate controls.
Documentation and Reporting:
 
Prepare and maintain engineering documentation, including design reports, calculations, specifications, and as-built drawings, in accordance with project and company standards.
Generate progress reports, status updates, and technical memos to communicate project milestones, issues, and recommendations to project stakeholders and management.
Ensure proper documentation of design changes, deviations, and lessons learned for future reference and continuous improvement.

QUALIFICATIONS / CERTIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; Master's degree preferred.
