JOB PURPOSE
As the Deputy Project Manager within the Project Management Department, you will play a key role in supporting the overall management and execution of engineering projects. Working closely with the Project Manager, you will assist in coordinating project activities, managing resources, and ensuring project objectives are achieved within scope, schedule, and budget.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Project Coordination:
Assist the Project Manager in coordinating project activities, tasks, and deliverables to ensure alignment with project objectives and milestones.
Liaise with cross-functional teams, including engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning, to facilitate communication and collaboration throughout the project lifecycle.
Schedule Management:
Support the development and maintenance of project schedules, including milestone tracking, critical path analysis, and resource allocation, using project management software tools.• Monitor project progress against established schedules, identify potential delays or risks, and assist in implementing corrective actions to keep projects on track.
Resource Allocation:
Assist in resource planning and allocation, including manpower, equipment, and materials, to support project activities and meet project requirements.
Coordinate with internal teams and external vendors to ensure timely availability of resources and materials needed for project execution.
Budget Monitoring:
Support the Project Manager in monitoring project budgets, expenditures, and financial performance, tracking variances and identifying potential cost-saving opportunities.
Assist in preparing financial reports, forecasts, and analyses to communicate project financial status to stakeholders and management.
Risk Management:
Participate in risk identification, assessment, and mitigation activities, working with the Project Manager and project teams to identify potential risks and develop risk mitigation strategies.
Monitor project risks throughout the project lifecycle, track mitigation actions, and escalate unresolved issues to the Project Manager as needed.
Stakeholder Communication:
Act as a primary point of contact for project stakeholders, responding to inquiries, providing updates on project progress, and addressing concerns or issues in a timely manner.
Assist in preparing project status reports, presentations, and other communications materials for distribution to stakeholders and management.
Quality Assurance:
Support quality assurance activities by assisting in the implementation and monitoring of quality control processes, inspections, and audits to ensure compliance with project specifications and standards.
Document quality issues, non-conformances, and corrective actions, and assist in implementing corrective and preventive measures as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS / CERTIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
RELEVANT EXPERIENCE
Certification in project management (e.g., CAPM, PMP) is a plus.
Proficiency in project management software tools such as Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, or equivalent.
Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to multitask, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders at all levels.
Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail in project documentation, reporting, and analysis.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and adapt to changing priorities and requirements.
Knowledge of project management principles, methodologies, and best practices is desirable.
Commitment to upholding ethical standards, integrity, and professionalism in all aspects of work.
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in project management, engineering, or related roles, preferably in the construction, engineering, or project management industry.
